Buyer takeaway: Agree the factory acceptance test plan before testing. A FAT package should connect the offered design, serial number, specified tests and acceptance records.
Define the required scope
Identify the governing purchase specification, applicable standard and edition, required tests, witness points, report format and acceptance criteria. Distinguish routine tests from any additional design or special tests required by the contract. Do not assume that every quoted FAT covers the same work.
Check the evidence package
Review the serial number, tested configuration, tap positions where relevant, equipment calibration information, results and deviations. Common electrical testing can include ratio, winding resistance and impedance measurements; the approved test plan determines what is actually required.
Close exceptions before release
Record deviations, corrective work, retesting and the party authorized to accept results. A historic FAT does not establish present storage condition or eliminate field checks after transport. Keep release approval separate from later installation and commissioning acceptance.
| Review area | Buyer action |
|---|---|
| Before testing | Approved test plan, specification, witness notice and acceptance authority |
| During review | Serial-specific results, configuration and recorded deviations |
| Before shipment | Closed exceptions, final reports and release documents |
Does FAT mean the transformer is ready to energize at site?
No. Transportation, assembly, site testing and commissioning requirements remain part of the agreed project scope.
