Purchase & project planning

Commercial options.
Defined for the equipment.

Every quotation establishes the equipment condition, included scope, warranty, payment terms, and delivery responsibilities.

Equipment condition and warranty

As-is equipment and test documentation

Request the applicable test reports and scope of testing. Warranty and insurance options may be available at additional cost and must be specified in the quotation.

Reconditioned

For reconditioned equipment, request the scope of work and the available test records. Any warranty must identify the provider, duration, coverage and exclusions in the quotation. Do not assume a standard warranty term applies to every unit.

New and unused

New or unused condition does not by itself establish manufacturer warranty coverage. Confirm whether coverage is available or transferable, who provides it, and when it starts for the proposed unit.

Acquisition options

Purchase

Payment and delivery terms are negotiated for the specific transaction and documented in the purchase agreement.

Rental

Where rental is offered, confirm the minimum term, preparation, shipping, servicing, return condition and delivery responsibilities for the selected equipment in the agreement.

Rent with ownership

Where offered, this structure includes an initial deposit and monthly payments over an agreed period. Title transfer and all payment obligations must be defined in writing.

Before committing to equipment

  • Confirm current availability, ownership, condition, and technical configuration.
  • Have the buyer’s engineering team review the nameplate, drawings, and available test records.
  • Define accessories, oil, spares, and services included in the scope.
  • Agree preparation, loading, shipping, offloading, and installation responsibilities.
  • Confirm price, payment milestones, warranty, and delivery schedule in the written agreement.

Use the transformer quote-comparison guide to review included equipment, exclusions, payment milestones and delivery responsibilities on the same basis.

Discuss the equipment and the terms together.
