Transformer Traders is built on real, hands-on experience in transformer sourcing, heavy-haul logistics, and turnkey project execution. Unlike traditional brokers, our founder, Jason Dutcher, has personally led international GSU movements, high-volume data-center transformer imports, complex multimodal transport plans, and full installation solutions for utilities and Fortune 100 data-center operators. 

Since 2012, Jason’s background in both transformer sales and complex logistics gives clients a true one-stop solution—from procurement to energization.

One of Jason’s most notable projects involved the movement of a 500,000-lb Generation Step-Up transformer manufactured by Pauwels in Belgium. Jason managed the entire end-to-end logistics process, including:

• Coordinating transport from the Pauwels manufacturing facility to the Port of Antwerp
• Overseeing stevedores, heavy-lift operations, and equipment handling
• Managing export compliance, import documentation, and all customs requirements
• Executing Power of Attorney on behalf of the client to streamline U.S. entry
• Supervising discharge and barge loading at the Port of New Orleans
• Ensuring seamless handoff to inland transport partners
   

This project reflects deep expertise in global transformer logistics, port operations, heavy-haul routing, and international regulatory procedures—capabilities rarely found in the brokerage sector.

Google selected Jason to manage all logistics and installation requirements for two mobile substations delivered to a major data-center site. This was a full-scope, boots-on-the-ground engagement involving:

• Oil draining, removal, and processing
• Transforming the units into safe-to-ship configuration
• Disassembly, labeling, and packaging of external components

• Removing fencing and creating access paths for heavy-haul vehicles
• Coordinating ground stabilization and entry points
• Aligning with Google’s engineering teams to meet onsite safety protocols

• Routing, permitting, and logistics coordination across multiple carriers
• Scheduling and overseeing cranes, rigging, and lift operations
• Managing offloading and final positioning at the delivery location
   

This project showcased Jason’s ability to take a transformer asset from “as-is” condition to fully staged and installation-ready, managing every vendor, timeline, and safety procedure involved.
